Benlysta

by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK)

Benlysta is a biologic treatment for lupus (SLE and lupus nephritis) available at no cost through the GSK Benlysta Gateway patient assistance program.

What is Benlysta?

Benlysta (belimumab) is a B-lymphocyte stimulator (BLyS)-specific inhibitor approved for adults and children (5 years and older) with active, autoantibody-positive systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) who are receiving standard therapy. It is also approved for adults with active lupus nephritis. Benlysta works by blocking the BLyS protein that promotes the survival of abnormal B cells responsible for attacking healthy tissue in lupus patients. It is available as an intravenous (IV) infusion administered in a clinic or as a subcutaneous auto-injector for self-administration at home.
