Blujepa

by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK)

Blujepa is a novel oral antibiotic for uncomplicated urinary tract infections available through the GSK Patient Assistance Program.

What is Blujepa?

Blujepa (gepotidacin) is a first-in-class triazaacenaphthylene bacterial topoisomerase inhibitor approved for treating uncomplicated urinary tract infections (uUTIs) caused by susceptible bacteria, including E. coli and Staphylococcus saprophyticus, in adult females. It is taken orally as a short course of treatment and represents a new antibiotic class developed specifically to address antibiotic-resistant UTI pathogens. Blujepa does not belong to any existing antibiotic class, making it an important option when standard antibiotics have failed or are not appropriate.
