Epzicom

by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK)

Epzicom is a two-NRTI HIV backbone combining abacavir and lamivudine in one daily tablet, available through the GSK Patient Assistance Program.

What is Epzicom?

Epzicom (abacavir/lamivudine) is a fixed-dose combination of two nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) used as a backbone in combination antiretroviral regimens for HIV-1 infection in adults and adolescents. It is taken once daily in combination with another antiretroviral agent (e.g., an integrase inhibitor). Important: Patients must be tested for the HLA-B*5701 allele before starting Epzicom to screen for the risk of hypersensitivity reactions to abacavir.
