Ubrelvy

by AbbVie

Ubrelvy (ubrogepant) can cost $900–$1,000/month without coverage. AbbVie's myAbbVie Assist offers free Ubrelvy for qualifying patients. Learn how to afford Ubrelvy for migraine relief.

Ubrelvy (ubrogepant) is an oral medication made by AbbVie for the acute treatment of migraines. Unlike daily preventive medications, Ubrelvy is taken at the onset of a migraine attack. It belongs to the gepant class of drugs — CGRP receptor antagonists — and is one of the first oral migraine treatments specifically designed around the CGRP mechanism.

Without insurance, Ubrelvy can cost $900–$1,000 per month. AbbVie offers programs to help qualifying patients access Ubrelvy at low or no cost.

How to Afford Ubrelvy

  • Uninsured patients who qualify by income can receive Ubrelvy at no cost through myAbbVie Assist.
  • Commercially insured patients can reduce out-of-pocket costs through the Ubrelvy Savings Card.

What Does Ubrelvy Treat?

Ubrelvy is FDA-approved for the acute treatment of migraine with or without aura in adults. It is taken as needed when a migraine begins — not as a daily preventive. (For daily migraine prevention, the related drug Qulipta is used instead.)

How Ubrelvy Works

Ubrelvy blocks the CGRP receptor, preventing CGRP — a pain-signaling neuropeptide that surges during migraines — from binding and triggering the vascular and pain responses of a migraine attack. Unlike triptans (an older class of migraine drugs), Ubrelvy does not constrict blood vessels, making it an option for patients who cannot use triptans due to cardiovascular conditions. Ubrelvy can also be taken even if the headache phase has already begun — unlike some older treatments that work best in the earliest stages.
