What Does Ubrelvy Treat?

Ubrelvy is FDA-approved for the acute treatment of migraine with or without aura in adults. It is taken as needed when a migraine begins — not as a daily preventive. (For daily migraine prevention, the related drug Qulipta is used instead.)

How Ubrelvy Works

Ubrelvy blocks the CGRP receptor, preventing CGRP — a pain-signaling neuropeptide that surges during migraines — from binding and triggering the vascular and pain responses of a migraine attack. Unlike triptans (an older class of migraine drugs), Ubrelvy does not constrict blood vessels, making it an option for patients who cannot use triptans due to cardiovascular conditions.
