Ventavis

by Johnson & Johnson

Ventavis is an inhaled treatment for pulmonary arterial hypertension available through the Johnson & Johnson Patient Assistance Program.

Ventavis (iloprost) is an inhaled prostacyclin analog approved for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) in adults with NYHA Class III or IV symptoms to improve exercise tolerance, symptoms, and delay clinical worsening. It is delivered via a specialized nebulizer (the I-neb AAD System) directly into the lungs, producing rapid dilation of pulmonary blood vessels. Because the effect of each inhaled dose lasts only a few hours, Ventavis must be inhaled 6 to 9 times per day during waking hours. It is typically used when patients are inadequately controlled on other PAH therapies.
